Dr. Schmitz was originally born in Oceanside, CA but was in a military family, so they moved around quite frequently, including Japan and North Carolina, to name a few. Ultimately her family found their way to Columbus, OH, to settle down and call home. Dr. Schmitz has always loved animals from a young age, be it family pets, stuffed animals she cared for, or ponies at parties. This led her to The Ohio State University, where she attended her undergraduate degree in Animal Sciences and then her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. While obtaining her doctorate from The Ohio State University, she graduated in the top twenty-five percent of her class. In addition, she received awards in Ophthalmology, Anesthesia, and Community Practice while obtaining her DVM.
She began her career at a private practice in Columbus, OH. She always loved the ocean and warmer weather, so in 2018 she decided to move to the south with her family. She led the team at Foxbank Veterinary Hospital in Charleston. She was named Best Veterinarian in Berkeley County and led the hospital to be recognized as the Best Veterinary Hospital in Berkeley County. She has loved getting to know the people, their fur babies, the community, and the culture Charleston has to offer. Most recently she started our sister hospital Augusta Road Animal Hospital here in Greenville.
She's excited to continue this high level of medical care and superior client experience to the Simpsonville/Five Forks area. While she may not be a native to South Carolina, it has spoken to her heart, and she is now happy to call it home. In her spare time, you can find her spending time with her family, including her husband Josh (her high school sweetheart), their three daughters, and fur baby Clover (Bernese Mountain dog mix). If she's not at the hospital or at home, you can probably find her at their home away from home, Disney World. She cannot wait to meet every one of you and your sweet furry family members. She will ensure they are getting the highest level of care they deserve by not just being their veterinarian but being part of the Five Forks family!
Dr. Jones is originally from Chicago, IL, and obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She worked as a dietitian before pursuing veterinary medicine. Jessica attends Mississippi State University for veterinary school and will graduate in May 2023.
She has been very involved in the local transport program, Homeward Bound Project of Mississippi, to address the pet population challenges in the south. Her favorite part of veterinary medicine is the opportunity to promote the human-animal bond by providing optimal care to furry family members and building relationships with their owners.
When not working, she loves anything outdoors, especially long-distance running. Jessica and her husband, Justin, have a beautiful daughter and two dogs that make their family full of love and adventure!
Natalie moved to Greenville 3 years ago from the South West Florida area, and has been with Five Forks Animal Hospital since its opening in October of 2022. Coming from a background of working in hospitality and managing real estate brokerages, she always wanted to work with animals from a young age and has merged all her skills and interests in being practice manager at Five Forks. Growing up, Natalie’s family had every pet, from dogs, cats, guinea pigs, birds, chickens, and horses (and the occasional stray bunny or duck when she and her five younger siblings could convince their parents to keep it). Outside of work, she enjoys taking her lab mix, Nova, to the parks around Greenville. Her favorite part of the role is creating relationships with the amazing pet owners we get to meet everyday and help them help their fur babies to be as healthy as they can be!
Kathe joined Five Forks Animal Hospital in 2022 after working in customer service for years. Two cats, Draco and Neville, and a goofy pit bull named Barley. Excited to meet all the fur babies and assist with all medical and cuddles needed!
Robbie joined Five Forks Animal Hospital in October of 2022. She has been in the veterinary practice field since she graduated high school in 2016. Since before she could walk, Robbie has had a special bond with all animals. She loves them all equally, from fur, feathers, and even scales. Robbie was the child that would bring home stray kittens, dogs, or even snakes that she would find outside while playing. Robbie has two fur children, one named Tucker, a Chihuahua mix she rescued, and Wetzel, a German Shorthaired Pointer. She likes to ride horses, spend time at the lake in the summer, and hang out with friends and family! She is looking forward to giving the love and care your animal deserves and needs.
Jessica joined Five Forks Animal Hospital in June 2023. She was raised in the veterinary practice field on the east coast of North Carolina. Her background keeps her committed to making sure all animals are healthy and happy. Jessica is currently enrolled in the Veterinary Technician Program at Penn Foster College. She moved to Greer from the Outer Banks in 2023 and is very excited about this new chapter. When Jessica is not at work or studying for school, she enjoys spending time by the water, watching sunsets in her backyard, and playing with her two cats, Milo and Mittens. She is very excited to meet all the cuties and help with any medical needs!
Abbey joined Five Forks Animal Hospital in November of 2022, although she has worked in the veterinary field since high school. Her strong background in preventative medicine has left her passionate about keeping all her patients healthy and up to date. Abbey is currently enrolled in the Veterinary Technology Program at Tri-County Technical College. She is interested in nutrition and physical rehabilitation and hopes to study these further after she receives her license. She moved to Five Forks from New York in 2018 and has loved the Upstate area ever since. When Abbey isn't at work or studying for school, she enjoys rooting for the New York Yankees and spending time with her golden retriever, Mason. Abbey can’t wait to meet all the new patients at Five Forks Animal Hospital!
Katelyn joined Five Forks Animal Hospital in July 2023 with 8 years of experience. From a young age, Katelyn grew up around all kinds of animals, such as birds, snakes, horses, chickens, cats, and many different breeds of dogs. Katelyn would often bring home abandoned kittens to nurse back to health and find forever homes for them. At one point, she helped the family rottweiler deliver her puppies and she and her family knew she would grow up to help animals. Katelyn moved from her small hometown, Aynor, to Greenville in 2009 where she would graduate highschool and go into a Vet assistant Program in 2014. At Katelyn's first vet field job she was trained on the job to be a Veterinary technician and to this day, she still strives to learn as much as she can to be a better advocate for the pets she cares for and to be a better educator to the pet parents. When not working, she loves to travel, go to concerts, and spend time with her fur babies. Katelyn has a YorkiePom named Asher and a beagle mix named Gunny. One of her favorite things in her job is educating clients on how to socialize, train, and care for their fur babies!
